If you're looking for a beach town which is untouched by the booming tourist pilgrimages of our generation, come to Cha Am. It neighbors the famous Hua Hin and offers very similar accommodations & wonders, only with less crowds. A cool, historical site to visit is the Mrigadayavan Palace. This was once the residency of Rama VI, the monarch who ruled Thailand at the start of the 20th century. The palace is now a museum which you can explore in order to gain a more complex understanding of Thai roots. On the other hand, if you have some extra time to spare, consider visiting a fun and kind of kitschy place, the Santorini park.
