Pula to Venice

One of Europe’s biggest draws is the ease of traveling from country to country.

It’s completely possible to go from Croatia to Italy in less than half a day’s drive. So, if you are based in Pula, for example, you can easily get yourself to Venice to enjoy the wonders of the Floating City.

But, unfortunately, a Venice day trip isn’t feasible. Besides, you’ll probably want a few days to explore the canals and stuff yourself silly with as much Italian food as possible.

There is so much to do in Venice that it’s possible to feel overwhelmed. However, if you give yourself a few days, you can check off some of the most famous landmarks and get a real sense of Venice.

Some must-dos include seeing St. Mark’s square, getting yourself lost, and exploring the Doge’s Palace.

St. Mark’s square is in the heart of Venice. It’s the perfect place to people watch, take stunning photos of the amazing architecture, and visit the world-famous pigeons that live here. It’s also home to Campanile di San Marco, a bell tower you can climb to get some great views.

Another great activity is to simply wander around and get yourself lost. It’s very easy to do, as the city is built on a series of canals. The main portion of the city is small enough that you can walk it in a few hours, and every corner you turn is gorgeous. There are plenty of cafes with delicious coffee, wine, and snacks as well! But save room for gelato. Oooh, the gelato is to die for.

Doge’s Palace is a gothic-style building that used to be home to a seat of the government and house of justice. Today it’s a fantastic museum and home to one of the most unique views in the city. Make your way to the famed Bridge of Sighs, located just off the palace, and check out the final view prisoners would have before their execution.
