Good to know
People who rave about their travels in Vietnam may babble about one thing specifically: floating markets. You can find this wonder in the city of Can Tho. The thin boats float around the Song Can Tho river. It’s a crowded situation, but nonetheless, something that mainly exists in this city. At the market you’ll find sellers in traditional, conical hats standing over neatly arranged tropical fruits sitting between the wooden panels of the canoe. It’s highly recommended to sample fresh pineapple, jackfruit, longan, from the vendors. Make a whole day excursion out of the floating market, as you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner on the canoe.

Taking a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho

The bus to Can Tho leaves Mien Tay Bus Station every hour, and the journey usually takes 4 hours. The bus is a ‘sleeping bus’, meaning you have more space to stretch out as the seats recline to almost-flat. This is great if you want to get some sleep on the journey. If you're tall, however, you might feel a little cramped, as the seats are designed for locals who are typically not as tall as Westerners.

The cabin is air-conditioned and can get chilly, so wear something warm. The driver will stop along the way so you can use the bathroom and grab some food. If you don't want to buy food from a roadside shop or restaurant then bring something with you for the journey.

The bus isn't the fastest way of getting to Can Tho, but if you prefer slow travel, and like looking out of the window during a journey, then it's a good choice.
