Hai Phong has always been a highly influential city when it comes to Vietnam. Interestingly enough, Hai Phong is the root of an amazing warrior woman named Le Chan who fought the invading Chinese forces in the 12th century. She fought heroically with a command of powerful women, the Trung sisters. Unfortunately, the war became bleak and loss was near, so she drowned herself in the Hat river. Legend has it that she turned into stone and villagers built the Nghe Temple in Hai Phong in honor. When exploring the city, surely, you will feel many layers of history when exploring the boulevards.
