It is an experience. The train is slow and stops frequently. We were happy to have chosen 1st class, which is slightly more expensive, but offers more leg room and you get less crowded. There was a nice guy pushing a trolley with tea and soda through and if you are a bit more adventurous you can walk to the bar which is between class 1 and 2. expect a crowd of smoking men huddled around the bar, but to me they were super friendly, offering me space to get a Turkish coffee. The train leaves Cairo Ramses at 8 am on platform 8, and we got instant help from the friendly personal to find our coach (which has no number on it). We arrived in Luxor at 7. 30 pm, just 30 min delay (as Germans, we are used to delayed trains) in 12 h ride. Just bring sufficient supplies as they offer some snacks and some rice with chicken, but very limited options en route. It is a beautiful ride along the Nike valley, just long….
Clean, no wifi
Train left on time, carriage very clean and comfortable and arrived on time as well.
Tickets from Cairo to Alexandria were booked, and sent by courier to our Cairo hotel on a timely basis. Great stuff. Agent was very responsive on WhatsApp.
Timely reply and follow up
