It was a shock to the system to be awake for 4:15am and it is cold in the mornings in the winter in Uyuni. Everyone waiting for the bus, apart from me, had blankets. They obviously knew best, as the bus for the first hours was really cold inside. The bus left late and then it took nearly two hours to cross the border into Chile. I was the only non-Spanish speaking person on the bus - so I didn't know I had to fill out an online customs declaration to leave Bolivia and another to enter Chile. There are QR codes, but you need to have Internet service to access the online forms. Luckily, I was able to hotspot from one of the border guards and there was WiFi at the Chile Border post. Straight after crossing into Chile, we stopped for lunch. All of this meant we arrived not a 1pm but 3pm in Calama. I guess I was not surprised! But overall the bus was quite comfortable, even for my 6 foot 4 inch frame.
We travelled from Puno to La Paz. There were absolutely no issues.
Extremely comfortable seats very spacious
Everything went well with Trans Salvador. The annoying bit was crossing the boarder from Bolivia to Chile. This had absolutely nothing to do with Trans Salvador but it took 2 hours and we had to embark the bus twice with all the luggage and feed it through a scanner twice. That didn't make any sense. The bus was comfortable and I would take it again for sure.
Old bus but no problem on board. On time, nice drivers.
The bus is very comfortable, only some of the seats needs the new cover. The promissing food or coffee was not on the board offered.
