Train travel is an otherworldly experience in India; expect the unexpected with train carriages and stations which are truthfully not very different from what is shown on films. The most basic cabin option usually provides very basic, wooden seating. If you upgrade for a small fee, cabins with sleeping berths or upright, comfy seats are ample. Keep in mind that the most simple of cabins often does not provide travelers with air conditioning. When traveling through India by train make sure to be very diligent and use a map in order to track where you're heading and keep track of which station you're at.
