Here are some of Taghazout’s highlights:

1. Check out the surf. Whether you are a surfer or not, you have to visit some of the main surf spots, including Anchor Point and Devil’s Rock. If you are a beginner, there are a number of shops offering surf lessons or otherwise watch from the shoreline as the locals ride the waves.  

2. Wander around the town. When you first arrive at a new destination, one of the best things you can do is explore the area. The highlight of Taghazout is the white and blue houses built on a hill close to the shoreline. How to travel from Essaouira to Taghazout

Traveling from Essaouira to Taghazout is pretty straightforward, using a bus, car, or minivan. 

Below are the details for each:

Option one: Bus 

Prices start from $5 per person.

If you wish to book this cost-effective transportation option, there are several companies you can choose between. It should be easy to find a departure time because each company offers one to two rides per day. The earliest departure time is 8 a.m., and the latest departure is midnight. 

Your travel time on board one of these air-conditioned buses will vary from two to four hours.

Pro tip: Keep in mind that cancellation and changes are not possible after the tickets have been issued. This means you will want to be certain of your departure date and time prior to booking. 

Option two: Car

Prices start from $60 for the vehicle.

If you prefer the comfort of traveling in a private transfer, then a car may be the best option for you. 

There are three companies offering air-conditioned vehicles for three to four travelers. These are Alliance Rana Voyageurs, VisiTrip and Ait Moumen Transport. 

One of the biggest benefits of this option is that the driver can pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the doorstep of your next accommodation. You can also choose the time that you wish to depart. 

While each passenger is allowed to bring one suitcase, keep in mind they will all need to fit into the vehicle, so it’s best to travel light if possible. 

Option three: Minivan

Tickets start from $22 per person for a shared minivan.

For a private minivan, the prices start at $70 per vehicle. 

Traveling from Essaouira to Taghazout by air-conditioned minivan is one of the more popular transportation options, and multiple companies offer this service. 

While most minivans are shared with other guests, you’ll experience the added comfort of a smaller vehicle, making it a pleasant alternative to a bus.

Minivans are door-to-door service. All companies will pick you up from your hotel and drop you off at your next accommodation. 

The journey will take anywhere from two to three hours.

The best time to visit Taghazout

This laid-back surf town offers pleasant, warm temperatures year-round. 

Deciding which month to visit will depend on your preferences. 

If you are heading to Taghazout to surf, the swell offers world-class waves between October and March. During these months, you can expect temperatures of 64-72°F (18-22°C). 

If you want to get a tan and laze in the sun, consider planning your visit from April to June or September to October. These months offer daytime temperatures of 72-82°F (22-28°C). 

July and August also offer beautiful weather, but these months coincide with the busy season, so crowds will be at their highest. 

The good news is that no matter which month you visit, the area experiences little rainfall. 

Where should you go after Taghazout? 

If you are looking for convenience, the easiest spot to head to next is the vibrant city of Agadir, a much larger resort-style holiday destination than Taghazout. 

From Taghazout to Agadir, it will take 30 minutes by car or minivan. 

Otherwise, if you want to head inland from the coast, why not visit Marrakesh? You will need a couple days to get lost in the medina and souks as well as the gardens and riads. It’s an iconic city that should not be missed on your Moroccan itinerary.
