I had no issue with the transport itself but the route from Don Det to Siem Reap was longer than anticipated and needlessly so. At Don Det I was told to be at the pier around 7:45am or so. The boat didn't leave until 8:10am. After the 20 minute journey to the shore we were told that there was an hour wait for the bus. Around 9:30 we boarded the bus to the Cambodia border. I booked the EVisa and was through in record time (note: you do need $2 US to leave Laos for your exit stamp and $2 more for your entry stamp. And they want US Dollars.) There was about a 2 hour wait at the border despite everyone on our original bus getting through within an hour. Apparently we were waiting for another bus of people. We finally board this bus (we have now had 1 boat, 2 different buses) and traveled for an hour before we stopped for lunch. 1 hour break for lunch. So in 6 hours we have only traveled about 2 hours. Frustrating for everyone. After lunch we change to yet another bus and we are finally off to Siem Reap. We arrived around 7:30pm in Siem Reap and the company had tuk tuks waiting to take us to our accommodations which was greatly appreciated. I will say the staff in Don Det were AMAZING and I really appreciated the tuk tuks waiting for us in Siem Reap. Just be prepared for an extra long day of travel and save yourself some money, and save everyone some time and get the e-Visa online before arrival!

The first van came on time and, as described, was a 12-person mini van. After the break we were rushed to eat a small meal within 15 minutes. Then we were put on a bigger bus with 16 other passengers who had to sit in the aisles on plastic chairs. We could hardly move our legs because of boxes in the bus. The bus drove so fast that even a local passenger had to throw up. Apart from the fact that the second bus was absolutely not what we had booked, the trip was life-threatening and unreasonable. We almost flew to the ceiling of the bus despite the seat belt. To ask for a price of the equivalent of 44 euros is a cheek. I will never book the bus company again and will not recommend it. We should actually get our money back for what we had to go through.

First we were briefed on the order of what to expect. We left siem reap and the driver stopped a couple of times to pick up locals. This leg of the journey was a bit rough as the driver was honking at everything and overtaking at quite a bit of speed all the time. we were dropped off for lunch but didn't say anything about how long or if he was coming back... (don't think he speaks English) and picked up by a different van/driverAfter 15 minutes . Much more calmer at driving (no aggressive honking or weaving through traffic like the last driver... Even when we had 3 occasions when a random cow would run out on the road... Super calm) when we went through the border which was pretty straight forward ('fees are not official but mandatory' this has nothing to do with the bus transport but it is to be expected)... At the end they dropped me close to my accomodation which was great and arrived over an hour early in pakse. So bonus
