Good. Good price. Fine service. They tell you s lot, and help you, but wish they followed you inside the terminal at the Harbor. But again, might not be considered their job.
Was good
The bus trip from Bacalar to Flores was doable but made for a long day with multiple shuttle changes, entry/exit fees, and a bit of crowding. For other travelers I'd like to give a break down of the day so you know what to expect. The shuttle will pick up from Ado bus station in Bacalar if booked here on bookaway however the bus time is between 8:30-9am not exactly 8:30am which is not stated. The shuttle picks up at the various hostels in Bacalar first if booked through your accommodations then the bus station. The driver was so kind and even took time to search for 2 travelers who were told the pickup was not at ADO from the ADO employees. You will fill out a paper form for Belize immigration so bring a pen. From there you will take the shuttle to the Mexican border where you will get off and take your personal item along with passport to pay the Mexico departure tax (DNI). Currently the cost is 800 Mexican pesos unless it is included in the airfare but you will need a breakdown of the fees. Frontier does this but Southwest did not breakdown the Mexico tourism tax. The lady at immigration said the Visitax and DNI are not the same. The driver was able to provide pesos for those who did not bring cash as there is no ATM on site. You can pay this back at a different time. I had cash therefore, I did not need this. This was the only place toilets were originally offered. There may have been at the Belize and Guatemala borders but things moved relatively quickly and was not mentioned. From there you board a new shuttle to Belize city where you will stop at Belize immigration and you must let them know you are transiting through to Flores. Once in Belize city, you will depart the shuttle for the bus station at the port to get a bracelet for the next shuttle to take you on to Flores or they will herd you to the next shuttle without doing this step like they did us then give bracelets once on the bus. Your main bags will be loaded in a pull behind trailer so take any fragile items out. The bus fills up very quickly with people sitting in the mini chairs in the aisle that fold down so there are 4 people packed in every row. From here there is a brief stop in San Ignacio just to let the travelers depart from the bus then a stop at the Belize border which you must pay a tax even if you are only transiting. You can pay with card or cash. It is about 40 BZD. Next is the entrance to Guatemala border where you need to get the entry stamp then head out to the next shuttle near the river. This was a little confusing but the border agents and the Belize go employees can point you in the right direction. Other than the stop at the Mexico departure immigration and the Guatemala entrance there were no offers of toilets or markets for food so bring provisions. At the end right before Flores there was a stop at a petrol station for travelers who still needed to pay so they were able to use the ATM. Once in Flores, they dropped you in the very front of the island. The last guide was super helpful informing travelers about the various booking they provided and best time to visit Tikal Ruins. The trip was not terrible and the drivers were friendly but felt very vague with the plan. Hope this long review helps the next person. Safe travels!
Driver was a few minutes late. Apart from that really Great Service, Small group and Perfect Support for an easy border crossing. Would recommend!
Go to the Atlanta Express shop at the ferry terminal, then the bus driver collects you from there. The bus left 40 minutes late but otherwise everything went smoothly (including the border crossing) and we were even dropped off at our hostel in Bacalar.
