The trip was fine. It’s a little stressful to not get the tickets before or at least to not receive any reminder from the supplier.
We always need to contact the supplier first, while it should be better to receive a reminder from the supplier before.
But the journey was good
Everything ok, except for the toilet (cleanliness)
This was not my idea of first class. Train was very dirty. Amenities were unusable. Train was also nearly 2 hours late. The train ticket said 45euro but I paid significantly more.
Everything was pretty good. . they answered the WhatsApp without delay and delivered on their promise.
Buen servicio
First of all, I bought a ticket from your website to go from Luxor to Alexandria saying that departs from Luxor on MAy 12th 12:40 pm and arrives Sidi Gaber on May 12th 21:40pm. That was false. When I got my physical tickets (there were 2: one from Luxor to CAiro saying departure at MAy 12th 12:40pm and a second ticket from Cairo to Alexandria saying departure at May 12th 22:30pm). The reality was that I arrived Cairo near 23pm and then another 3 hours to arrive Alexandria, around 2 am of the next day.
If I had known this in advance, I would never have bought the ticket.
On the day of the trip, upon arriving at Luxor station, I headed to the platform area and a man from the train company, whom I'll call "A," directed me to the train. As soon as I boarded the train, he took my luggage and tried to put it in the luggage compartment next to the train access door. Another man from the same company, whom I'll call "B," was standing next to me with a padlock ready to lock the compartment. I refused to leave my luggage in that compartment, and then they demanded that I tip each of them 100 Egyptian pounds. I agreed and gave the 200 pounds to the first man, "A. " He left with the money. Then the second man, "B," asked for "his" 100 pounds. To avoid problems, I gave him another 100 pounds. A total of 300 Egyptian pounds.
I went to sit down in my seat. The journey from Luxor to Cairo takes approximately 10 hours. There were few people on the train and everyone was local, there were no tourists, at least not in the car I was in. After about an hour of travel, the first man, "A," approached me and sat in the seat next to me. He started asking me where I was from and if I was traveling alone. He offered to take me to first class, which I declined. He then told me he was from Luxor and could get me alcohol or some places to party. I told him I wasn't interested. He then told me that apart from the train, he had another job at a church in Luxor where they help orphaned children. He asked me if I wanted to help those children. I replied that I helped children directly when I saw them on the street. He then asked me for my travel tickets and told me the ticket from Cairo to Alexandria was incorrect and that I was missing 20 euros that I had to pay right away to complete the fare (my ticket for Luxor-Cairo was marked as USD 55 and Cairo-Alexandria was marked as USD 35). I told him I had paid the agency 111. 04 euros and that everything would have to be fine. At that point, the man became aggressive and told me I was misbehaving and that he would have to call the police. He asked me if I wanted to arrive in Alexandria "happy" or be taken off the train in Cairo and have my passport confiscated. I asked how I could be sure that, if I gave him the money in that moment, he wouldn´t come back later to asking for more money. He told me that if I gave him the money right away, he wouldn't bother me until the end of the trip. He told me to give him the 20 euros if I didn't want to arrive safely at my destination. At that moment, I realized that in the event of an incident, the police would take his version of events as true instead of mine, or he might accuse me of something I wouldn't understand, and the police would take it as truth. So I agreed to give him the money, but told him I had to go to the bathroom to get the money. It's worth mentioning that while the conversation was taking place, another train controller and an officer dressed in white with a gun on his waist walked by the aisle and saw Man "A" sitting next to me. They smiled at each other, which makes me suspect they knew what was happening. Man "A" then escorted me to the restroom between the carriages. He closed the doors on both sides of the carriages. When I came out of the restroom, he was waiting with his cell phone case open for me to put the money, 20 euros. He then asked me for 100 Egyptian pounds more "for cigarettes," which I also gave him. Once he received the money, he told me to return to the carriage, "smiling".
This man is a blackmailer and thief that should be sanctioned and punished by the company. If you have ways to inform the train company about the behaviour of this man you should do it, not for me but for all the turists that will travel in that train in the future.
