We were very worried after reading reviews so we braced ourselves, but all went well.
Although it took almost 5 hours, it went smoothly. The boat ride was 45 minutes! Super fast. It was full and we left at 8:15 so make sure you arrive by 8 -half an hour early at least. There was no counter to help, I just happened to see someone with a clipboard among the crowd and she found our names on the list and pointed to our boat. It rained for about half the trip so we were worried about our luggage, but it just had a few drops on it. And we were able to pull down the side tarps to keep ourselves dry.
Once on the other side at ChiriquiGrande. We had to wait over an hour for our van to Boquete. There were boys there who were very helpful and there is a washroom that was pretty clean, just need to be buzzed in. All the big luggage went on top and was covered with a tarp. Once we were on the road it was as any van ride us in Central America-crazy and fast. The driver even had a curtain on his window that he closed.
All went well, just funny-we expect this sort of thing.
As we arrived in Boquete, and let out a few people and it was a bit crazy because he had to go up on top and get their luggage which of course was at the back. The second drop off he got it all iut, put it in the front row of passenger seats and sent me to the back, and ON 3 more people? Not sure why, they said they were waiting for ‘a shuttle and just got in! Anyway, so then our stop was next and all those new passengers had to get off to jet me off. Anyway, so arrived at our hotel 1pm.
Van was nice, maybe a bit small for the amount of people and luggage. The van also takes you to the further harbour (Chiriqi Grande) so the van part is 3 hours, but then it’s another 1,5 on the boat. The boat is fine, not super comfortable (as expected) with wooden benches.
Everything on time!
Very convenient.
Excellent service. The check-in process was quick and simple, and they guide you towards the speedboat (ferry/lancha). The waters were flat, so no chance for seasickness. The shuttle van was comfortable. There were only three of us, so we had plenty of space to relax and sleep. All in all, the trip took 3 hours from Bocas del Toro to Boquete. It was fast, comfortable, safe and affordable. I highly recommend the service.
