When traveling the 531 kilometer (330 mile) distance between Da Nang and Nha Trang, you have two transportation options to choose from:
- An affordable bus that takes 10 hours to arrive in Nha Trang. There are daylight, sleeping, and VIP tickets available
- A cozy train ride that also takes 10 hours to arrive in Nha Trang. This option is more expensive but way more comfortable than the bus. There are only daylight departures available.
The best time to visit Nha Trang is between February and April. That’s when the temperatures are around 26-27 degrees Celsius, and the chances of rainfall are at their lowest. This time of the year is also great when it comes to diving conditions. The monsoon season lasts from September to December, and the chances of typhoons are at their highest at this time of the year.
What to see when traveling from Da Nang to Nha Trang
What you’re able to see outside your window depends on the time of the day you’re departing. Those who are traveling on a sleeping bus won’t be able to see much, but you’ll get a chance to catch a good few hours of sleep before you arrive in Nha Trang.
If you’re traveling on a daylight bus or a train, you’ll be able to enjoy a scenic ride. The route follows the coastline on the South China Sea and passes through the lush green countryside.
As soon as you arrive in Nha Trang, you’ll see that this town is one of the prettiest seaside spots in Vietnam. It also attracts a large number of tourists, both local and international, and because of that, Nha Trang has a very vibrant atmosphere and nightlife.
During your stay in Nha Trang, you can try many different sports and activities. This is a popular diving and sailing spot in Vietnam. Even if you’re a beginner, you’ll be able to enjoy them, because there are many beginner courses available. Another thing Nha Trang is famous for are its waterfalls. Some of the most popular ones are Ba Ho and Fairy Spring Waterfalls, which you can reach after an hour of hiking from the city.
On the banks of the Cai River, you’ll find the interesting Po Nagar Cham Towers that were built between the 7th and 12th centuries by Cham, Chinese, Vietnam, and Buddhist worshippers.
One of the city’s main landmarks is the giant white Buddha statue who is sitting on a pretty lotus blossom. The statue is 14 meters high, and you can see it from the city. It’s located at the summit of a hill behind the Long Son Pagoda.
The Long Son Pagoda is another place worth your time, but you’ll have to walk up a steep set of stairs to get to the top. The hike is a bit hard, but it’s worth the views you’ll be able to enjoy from the top.
If you’re looking for a fun day trip, you can go on a boat trip to Monkey Island. The island sits 20km off the coast from Nha Trang and is home to hundreds of monkeys.

Taking a bus
When traveling between Da Nang and Nha Trang, you’ll be able to choose between different types of buses. All of them provide passengers with A/C, reclining seats, and blankets. Additionally, there are also VIP tickets available. These buses have private cabins where you can relax and rest during your journey. Overnight buses from Da Nang to Nha Trang are a great way to save money on both transport and accommodation.
Taking a train
Taking a train between Da Nang and Nha Trang is more expensive than the bus, but it’s also unbelievably comfortable. Trains are equipped with A/C, soft beds, toilets, blankets, WiFi, and charger sockets. You’ll also get courteous service, and water and snacks. However, there are only day time tickets available.
