How to get from Mui Ne to Da Lat

   Taking a Bus 

     All buses from Mui Ne to Da Lat take between 4 hours and 4.5 hours. All journeys take place during the day (rather than at night), and there are many departure times available.

     All buses to Da Lat from Mui Ne are very affordable, even for the tightest of budgets. Buses are most popular with budget backpackers who want to save money. Though buses are affordable, they’re all pretty comfortable.

     When travelling by bus from Mui Ne to Da Lat, you have two options: 

  • Sleeper seats: though it’s a daytime journey, and a fairly short one, you can take the trip on lay-down bed-style seats rather than upright seats. If you like to sleep while you travel, this bus to Da Lat from Mui Ne  is perfect for you.
  • Normal upright seats: for those who’d prefer to sit upright during the journey.

     None of these buses from Mui Ne to Da Lat have toilets. Instead, the buses make toilet stops along the way.

 

Taking a Minivan

     Minivans from Mui Ne to Da Lat take between 3 and 3.5 hours. If you choose to take a minivan to Da Lat from Mui Ne, you must hire the entire vehicle. Though the price of the minivan is expensive, it actually works out pretty affordable if you fill each seat. Minivans from Mui Ne to Da Lat have a capacity of either 9 or 13 people.

     If you like a little more luxury, and don’t mind spending a little more cash, you can hire a comfort minivan from Mui Ne to Da Lat. The minivan has wifi, window shutters, comfortable seats and lots of space.

     Though expensive, private cars are fairly popular with families and travellers who have a little more cash. With a private car, you can choose your own departure time. 

     Some buse and minivans have wifi and televisions, but check with each individual listing, as different companies offer different perks. If you hire a full vehicle, whether a car or a minivan, you can decide your own toilet breaks!

 

What you’ll see when traveling from Mui Ne to Da Lat

     While beautiful beachy Mui Ne hugs the shores of south east Vietnam, Da Lat sits majestically in the cooler climes of Vietnam’s mountainous Central Highlands.

     Because both Mui Ne and Da Lat are relatively small places, the journey is fairly peaceful and rural. The bus between Mui Ne and Da Lat takes you past small lakes, verdant mountains, peaks, valleys and roadside settlements.

     There are none of the bustling cities and chaotic gridlocks that many other bus journeys in Vietnam entail. Instead, you’ll see farmland, small towns and - probably - roaming animals.

     Both destinations are serene spots, full of peaceful moments, natural wonders and beautiful scenery.  The journey from Mui Ne to Da Lat offers plenty of great scenery too!

 

What is the best time of year to visit Da Lat?

     The best time to visit Da Lat is from December to June, during the dry season. 

     If you visit in the rainy season of July to November, you may be very limited in how you can spend your time. Hiking in this season is an awful experience, and even walking within the city can be unpleasant.

     Famous for its cool climate, Da Lat can be a great place to escape some of Vietnam’s heat. Throughout the year, average temperatures sit at around 26C. But because of the altitude, they can feel a little lower.

     Whenever you visit, make sure you take some warm clothes. Da Lat at night can feel way cooler than you might expect.

 

What is the best time of year to visit Mui Ne?

     Mui Ne has two distinct seasons: the rainy season from April to October and the dry season from November to March.

     Of course, the best time to visit is during the dry season - you don’t want your trip to be limited because of poor weather. Though Mui Ne sometimes has significantly less rain than many other parts of Vietnam, occasional downpours can still be disruptive.

     During the dry season, temperatures average around 27C. But because of fairly high winds, it can sometimes feel a little cooler. These temperatures are perfect for swimming, sunbathing and enjoying Mui Ne’s golden shores.

     During the dry season, Mui Ne’s beaches offer watersports, aquatic activities and a plethora of delectable local food carts.

     If you’re a keen surfer, the best time to visit Mui Ne is October or November, when the combination of great weather and roaring waves makes for perfect conditions.

     Generally speaking, you should try to avoid visiting Vietnam during Tet. The Vietnamese New Year, Tet is a huge celebration. Many businesses and restaurants are closed, so it’s not a great time to be a tourist in Vietnam. The exact dates change each year, but they’re always sometime in January and February - so make sure you check the dates before you visit.
