We used Marlin Espadas’s bus services three times in one week, and all three times the bus was 1 to 2 hours late. It’s hard to plan your day under those conditions. In addition, the bus from Belize City to San Ignacio is a small one where luggage is placed on the roof. The bus was so crowded that we had to sit in the aisle on temporary seats, which were not comfortable at all.

We left about 2 hours late. They told us when we checked in that it was going to be late, but they wanted us to be there at the assigned time. So just sitting instead of exploring…once we got on our way, it was fine.

Other than departing over an hour late, this service was relatively pleasant. Don’t expect a fancy bus like in the pictures, ours was a tiny old minibus but given the cost the journey was alright.
