How to get from Kathmandu to Pokhara

With ticket prices starting from $8 and around 10 departures each day, tourist buses are a popular and economical way to travel. Travel times are around 7.5 hours but with all bus operators leaving in the morning at around 06.00 or at 07.00, you will reach Pokhara by late afternoon or early evening. Air conditioned buses, cushioned seats, and multiple stops for food and restroom breaks makes the ride a comfortable one. 


Taking a private minivan

If you are traveling as part of a larger group, booking a private minivan might be a good option. It is perfect for groups of up to 9 passengers and takes around five and a half hours to travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The private minivans offer hotel or airport pick ups and drop offs. You can also choose a timing that works best for your group and choose to stop along the way for food, for the restroom, or simply to stretch your legs.
