Four nature-focused things to do in Port Barton
Everything about Port Barton revolves around nature. It’s rustic and serene. Unplug and enjoy everything that nature has to offer! Here are a few options:
Chill at Port Barton Beach. While there will always be some visitors at this beach, it doesn’t have the busy vibe of El Nido. It is a calm and peaceful place to relax and sip on a drink as you devour the latest book in your favorite series.
With so few bars and restaurants, this sleepy seaside is definitely more suited to introverts who need a recharge and aren’t looking for the coolest party.
Trek to Pamuayan (Pawpawyan) Falls. The walk from town to the falls takes about 1.5-2 hours. Another option is to charter a habal-habal or a tricycle. The ride will take 15-20 minutes, followed by a 15-minute trek to the falls.
Guides often wait at the trail entrance if you prefer to hire someone to go with you. There is no entrance fee, but donations are accepted. Sometimes, during the dry season, the falls can be dry, so inquire before going.
The pool at the base of the falls is refreshing and cold, but don’t be tempted to cliff jump. It has proved fatal.
Go island hopping. The color of the ocean is not as stunning as in El Nido, but the coral reefs are incredible. There are few visitors to this area, and because of this, the natural beauty of the underwater world has remained more pristine.
Island-hopping tours can be arranged online, or drivers will approach you on the beach with an offer. Some stops to request include Inaladelan Island and German Island for swimming with sea turtles and Twin Reef for snorkeling.
Visit the White Beach, AKA Coconut Beach. Port Barton Beach is fairly rustic, with some vendors and island-hopping drivers looking for clients. If you want something even more secluded and protected, check out White Beach. As you’d expect from the name, the white powdery sand is lined with coconut palms and hammocks.
The entrance to the beach costs less than $1.00. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from Port Barton Beach, or you can rent a motorcycle or tricycle for a faster trip.
