Ayutthaya is an especially ancient and carefully preserved spot in Thailand. In past centuries, this city was a perfect crossroad of trading for many nations as it’s surrounded by three rivers that delta into the sea. Ayutthaya, at one point, even became the most populated city in the world. When visiting, make sure to allocate most of your time to exploring the antique Ayutthaya Historical Park. There, you’ll find almost a hundred ruins and Buddhist temples. One of the most unique sights to see is the Buddha statue, peaking his head out of an overgrown fig tree.
