Chiang Mai is the most wonderful place to visit when you want to envelop yourself in a crowd of festival goers. During the Thai New Year in April, the streets of Chiang Mai are packed to brim with Thai people cheering, and the night sky is sprinkled with glowing lanterns. The city is one that is exotic, and strongly traditional. Learn about the indigenous tribes of the area at the Tribal Museum, or visit the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep buddhist temple. If you want to get away from festival crowds and a unique moment, visit the Tiger Kingdom to see beautifully cared for kitties.
