Good to know
Among most people, Kanchanaburi holds a somber name. This city was home to atrocities committed under Japanese control during World War II. Visit historical sites like the bridge over the River Kwai for a great understanding of the infamous past century. Since then, the city has regained it's life, and is a wonderful place to visit in order to get in touch with rural Thailand. This city is situated on the west side of the Thai mainland, with easy access to Bangkok, the Gulf of Thailand and Myanmar. One can't miss location is the Erawan waterfall, which has to be one of the most scenic cascades in all the land.
