Taking a bus from Abu Dhabi to Dubai

About the ride from Abu Dhabi to Dubai
You’ve just had a spectacular vacation in Abu Dhabi, but you don’t want it to end. Are you wondering where to go next?
It’s simple: just head to Dubai, another location on the water that provides a mix of beauty along the sea and inland.
The trip from Abu Dhabi to Dubai is quite short. Separated by just 139 km (86 mi), you can arrive in Dubai within one to two hours via a car or minivan.
Minivans are a little bit less expensive and provide both shared and private transfers. If you have a small group, arrange a private car or SUV to take you to Dubai. While it’s slightly more expensive, it gives you control over when you want to leave.
Once in Dubai, prepare to be mesmerized by its stunning architecture and seaside beauty. From the Burj Khalifa to Kite Beach, Dubai has everything you could want, making your vacation unforgettable.
How is Dubai different from Abu Dhabi?
In Abu Dhabi, you’ll spend more time on the water. More than 200 islands surround Abu Dhabi, including the famous Yas and Saadiyat Islands. There are also many theme parks throughout the area.
Dubai, on the other hand, is known more for its mosques and architecture. Some of the world’s most famous buildings reside here, including Burj Al Arab, the Dubai Mall, the Jumeirah Mosque, and Burj Khalifa.
While it’s not surrounded by islands, Dubai still has a lot of outdoor activities — think wonderful beaches, amazing water parks, and world-class golf courses.
Many would say Dubai is more scenic.
What is there to do in Dubai?
A piece of paper probably won’t suffice for your Dubai bucket list. You might need a notebook.
That being said, here are the top things you’ll want to experience in Dubai:
Burj Al Arab: There are no words to describe this stunning hotel. Situated along the water and overlooking the Persian Gulf, Burj Al Arab is 27 floors of sheer luxury and elegance. The total height of its unique sail-like design is 1053 feet (321 meters). You don’t need to stay here to visit. If you head out to the beach, have your camera out because it is the perfect backdrop.
Dubai Mall: Do you like to shop? Then, welcome to your paradise. It is one of the world’s largest malls and has over 1,200 stores! Just bring a map because getting lost in this incredible building is easy. Certain features you’ll want to see are the Dubai Fountain and the mall aquarium.
Jumeirah Mosque: If you’ve ever looked at images of Dubai in a magazine, chances are you’ve seen the Jumeirah Mosque. This mosque is unique because non-Muslims are invited inside, so if you want to capture its beauty, head on it. It’s recommended that visitors arrive in the morning to take advantage of the delicious Emirati breakfast. However, read up on the dress code before entering.
Museums: The Dubai Museum is arguably a top attraction, highlighting Dubai’s culture and giving a deeper look into the architectural, geographical, and marine landscape that makes the city what it is. Some other great museums to visit include the Museum of the Future, the Etihad Museum, and the Museum of Illusions.
Burj Khalifa: New York has the Empire State Building, Chicago has the Sears Tower, and Dubai welcomes you with Burj Khalifa. Constructed in 2010, this skyscraper is bigger than them all; it’s the world’s largest. To the tip, it is 2,722 feet (830 m) high and 630 stories high. Assuming you don’t have a fear of heights, purchase a ticket and go close to the very top.
Pro tip #1: If you’re a golfer, you’ll want to bring your clubs. Dubai has incredible courses known for hosting golf tournaments, including the Dubai Desert Classic.
Pro tip #2: If you love waterparks, Dubai is the perfect place to have some fun. The Wild Wadi Waterpark and Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark should be at the top of your list.

Going by minivan
Minivan prices start at $33 and include both private and shared transfers.
Shared minivans include pick-ups at either the Abu Dhabi Airport (AUH) or your Abu Dhabi hotel. There are various drop-off locations, including the Dubai Airport (DXB) and different hotels, so be sure to check with the provider to see where you will arrive.
Shared minivans leave at the top of the hour throughout the day. They include A/C and allow one bag per passenger. The average travel time is anywhere between one and two hours.
Private transfers start at $96 per vehicle. They include groups of anywhere from six to nine people. All pick-up and drop-off locations are at a hotel or airport — you choose.
Private minivans include A/C and a large luggage allowance, and you can leave anytime throughout the day that works for you.
Going by private car
All car transfers are private and include anywhere from two to four people. You can arrange for a pick-up time at any point throughout the day.

Best time to visit Dubai
Go between November and March if you’re going to Dubai for the weather, and plan on spending a lot of time outdoors. High temperatures average between 75-85°F (24-29°C). Nights can occasionally dip into the 50s°F (mid-teens C), so bring a light jacket.
It’s also peak travel season, so if you want to avoid crowds, the shoulder season is the best alternative. This is in October and April. It’s also a little less expensive during these months.
Shoppers will want to visit in January and February when the Dubai Shopping Festival takes place.
If you go during the summer, brace yourself for the heat. Temperatures can climb up to 105°F (41°C) or higher. Drink plenty of water and spend a lot of time at the indoor attractions. Or stay cool at the water parks.
Where to go after Dubai
After visiting Dubai, continue your Middle Eastern trip by heading west to Qatar. You’ll get your fill of sightseeing and adventure when you visit this country.
In Qatar, you can partake in things like kitesurfing at Sealine Beach, parasailing at Katara Beach, dune bashing in the Doha Desert, kayaking at Al Thakira Nature Reserve, touring the Al Zubarah Fort, or spending a day at Doha Festival City.
