We were not able to buy tickets directly on the Sri Lankan Railways website and Bookaway was the only third party site with tickets available for our date. Although you are paying more than double the price, it is definitely worth it for the experience. Was a smooth process; you receive e-tickets via WhatsApp, which you just show as you are boarding the train. Would recommend second class reserved as it wasn’t packed, plenty of space for large luggage and with open windows and doors you can easily take photos. We opted to take the train from Nanu Oya, instead of Kandy, for a shorter journey and have no regrets.

The journey from Kandy to Elka was unforgettable. Highly recommended. Beautiful sightseeing. Great service

It was a very beautiful and scenic ride through the mountains and valleys. One must travel 2nd class to enjoy the view. Wish at least a bottle of water is served in the ride and timings are adhered to. The train gets the lowest clearance priority, I think, which is why it was delayed for over an hour yesterday

Booked tickets for our group of 8 people, it was very simple and easy. Cant choose our seats but we got seated altogether, which was nice!
