At 93°F, no air conditioning, and a window blocked at 6 inches of ventilation, it was a stuffy, hot ride. That said, the conductors were attentive and pleasant, My cabin mates, two young mothers ,wearing burkas, and accompanying three preschooler boys, were respectful and quiet. It was an amusing though hot ride.

Before departing Tashkent, the train was like a sauna, and I couldn't stop sweating. However, once we set off just before 10 PM, the air conditioning kicked in, and the temperature became comfortable around midnight. After that, it felt a bit cool while I was sleeping. We arrived in Khiva around noon the next day, and it never turned back into a sauna during the journey. I traveled in second class, and the USB charging ports worked perfectly. The bed was narrow and had no guardrails, but being on the smaller side, I managed to sleep without falling off. The train staff were also very kind. Given the low price, it was definitely worth the money. Although it takes much more time compared to flying, I think it's a great train ride where you can truly enjoy the romance of travel.

Typical ride of all you see on YouTube. 4 person coupe but got lucky with couple on their side top/bottom and I had the entire other side to myself. Comfortable enough. Left close to on time and arrived on time. There was a restaurant car on board - I did not eat there but did have Nescafes. I did see the cook peeling potatoes so they must do some meals. Will be good to see the high speed extended onwards to Khiva, but the 7 hour day trip was not bad - just scrubland so have mates to talk to, bring a book, be really tired and sleep or just watch the flat land go by.

처음에는 엄청 덥다. 저녁 9시45분 출발인데 온도계가 31도를 가리킨다. 에어컨은 캐빈 내에서 조절이 전혀 안된다. 그러더니 출발하고 한참 후에야 시원해진다. 그런데 새벽엔 무척 춥다. 온도계는 17. 5도를 가리킨다. 에이! 그런데도 캐빈 안에서는 전혀 통제가 안된다. 요거 시정이 안 될까? 그리고 화장실 손씻는 곳의 물이 너무조졸졸 야하게 흐른다. 조금만 세게 나왔으면 좋겠다.
