About the ride from Siquijor to Dumaguete
Dumaguete is a lively university town with a young population. With a busy harborfront and promenade, good food, nightlife and plenty of shops, it's a good place to spend a few days before heading off to hike Mount Kanlaon, or dive at Apos Island.
Dumaguete is also a convenient travel hub for destinations in the Visayas and beyond. From Dumaguete airport in Sibulan there are daily flights to Manila and Cebu City. From Dumaguete Port, you can take a ferry to Luzon, Cebu, Bohol, Tagbilaran, Dapitan, Zamboanga and Mindanao. Daily buses depart for other destinations on Negros, including Bacolod, San Carlos, Mambukal, Silay and Sipalay.
The journey from Siquijor to Dumaguete is straightforward. There's no airport on Siquijor so the only option is to take the ferry. The ferry departs from Siquijor Port in Siquijor Town, and arrives at Dumaguete Port (north of the Boulevard). The 46 km (29 mile) journey is short and simple, taking approximately 1 hour. When you arrive in Dumaguete, you’ll find tricycles and taxis waiting at the port which can take you to your resort or guest house.

Taking a ferry
The ferry from Siquijor to Dumaguete is a modern, fast ferry boat with seats in an air-conditioned cabin and plenty of space and legroom. There are several departures throughout the day and the journey takes between 50 minutes and 1 hour. There are toilets on board the ferry.
Make sure you have your passport to hand, as you will need it during check-in. For baggage weighing over 15 kg, there is a small fee of 10 Phillippine Peso per kilo, and it also has to be checked in, for which there is also a small fee.
This ferry can be busy, so book ahead of time if you have to travel on a specific date. If the sea is rough then the ferry may be delayed or cancelled, in which case you'll have to wait for the next boat.
