The best time to visit Krabi is from November to April. If you visit during this time, you’ll avoid the rainy season, as well as the high humidity and hottest weather.

 

What to see when traveling from Phuket to Krabi

Travelers who chose a bus, car, or a minivan will be riding through several national parks, including Than Bok Khorani and Ao Phang Nga. The ride between Phuket and Krabi is short, but you’ll still have a chance to enjoy scenic, lush green views.

If you’re traveling on a ferry, you’ll be able to enjoy views of the blue Andaman Sea, and the Phi Phi islands where you’ll make a stop for a layover. Some ferries make longer stops at the Phi Phi islands. If you want to have some time to explore the islands, check if your operator makes this longer stop before you book the ticket.

Once you arrive in Krabi, you’ll probably be hungry from your trip. Take a walk around Krabi town, and try some of the tasty street food. Krabi has many beautiful beaches, and the most popular one is Railay Beach which is considered one of the prettiest beaches in Thailand.

For those who prefer walking over swimming, the perfect spot to explore is the Khao Ngon Nak viewpoint. After an easy two hour hike, you’ll get to the top and the view will leave you speechless.

 

How to get from Phuket to Krabi

Taking a bus

Taking a bus between Phuket and Krabi is a fast and convenient way to get travel between these two places. The bus journey usually takes 3 hours. You can choose between Standard and Tourist buses. Standard tickets are cheaper, but these buses have fewer amenities, and they only have A/C and toilets on board. Tourist buses also have TVs, reclining seats, blankets, and they provide a meal, a snack, and a bottle of water.

 

Taking a minivan

Traveling on a minivan from Krabi to Phuket is one of the most popular ways to make the journey between two spots. You can choose between shared and private minivans. Private rides are a bit faster because shared minivans pick up passengers at different locations. You can choose your departure and drop off points, including airports in both Krabi and Phuket, and any hotel in Krabi town, Phuket town, and Klong Muang beach. All minivans have A/C.

 

Taking a ferry

Traveling between Phuket and Krabi on a ferry might not be the fastest option available, but this ride is very scenic. The ferry takes around 5 hours and 30 minutes to arrive in Krabi, and you’ll have a layover on the Phi Phi islands. 

Once you arrive on the Phi Phi islands, you’ll have to get off the ferry and pick up your luggage. Ferries are equipped with A/C and toilets on board.

  • For those who are traveling with a Chao Koh company - Find the company representative (they’ll be holding a red umbrella with the company logo). They’ll help you board the next ferry.
  • If you’re traveling with Sea Angel Cruise company, you’ll have to wait for 4 hours and 30 minutes to continue your journey. The Phi Phi islands are small, and you can use this time to grab lunch in one of the beachfront bars.

 

Renting a car

Smaller groups of friends or a family that need more privacy can book a private car for up to 3 passengers. Private cars are equipped with A/C, and they’ll take you to Krabi in less than 3 hours.
