While beautiful beachy Mui Ne hugs the shores of south east Vietnam, Da Lat sits majestically in the cooler climes of Vietnam’s mountainous Central Highlands.
Because both Mui Ne and Da Lat are relatively small places, the journey is fairly peaceful and rural. The bus between Mui Ne and Da Lat takes you past small lakes, verdant mountains, peaks, valleys and roadside settlements.
There are none of the bustling cities and chaotic gridlocks that many other bus journeys in Vietnam entail. Instead, you’ll see farmland, small towns and - probably - roaming animals.

The best time to visit Da Lat is from December to June, during the dry season.
If you visit in the rainy season of July to November, you may be very limited in how you can spend your time. Hiking in this season is an awful experience, and even walking within the city can be unpleasant.
Famous for its cool climate, Da Lat can be a great place to escape some of Vietnam’s heat. Throughout the year, average temperatures sit at around 26C. But because of the altitude, they can feel a little lower.
Whenever you visit, make sure you take some warm clothes. Da Lat at night can feel way cooler than you might expect.
Mui Ne has two distinct seasons: the rainy season from April to October and the dry season from November to March.
Of course, the best time to visit is during the dry season - you don’t want your trip to be limited because of poor weather. Though Mui Ne sometimes has significantly less rain than many other parts of Vietnam, occasional downpours can still be disruptive.
During the dry season, temperatures average around 27C. But because of fairly high winds, it can sometimes feel a little cooler. These temperatures are perfect for swimming, sunbathing and enjoying Mui Ne’s golden shores.
During the dry season, Mui Ne’s beaches offer watersports, aquatic activities and a plethora of delectable local food carts.
If you’re a keen surfer, the best time to visit Mui Ne is October or November, when the combination of great weather and roaring waves makes for perfect conditions.
Generally speaking, you should try to avoid visiting Vietnam during Tet. The Vietnamese New Year, Tet is a huge celebration. Many businesses and restaurants are closed, so it’s not a great time to be a tourist in Vietnam. The exact dates change each year, but they’re always sometime in January and February - so make sure you check the dates before you visit.
