The scenic route from Da Lat to Nha Trang covers a distance of some 134 kilometers (85 miles).
The journey starts in the towering peaks and pine forests of Vietnam’s famed Central Highlands and winds through the misty mountains to the steamy jungles of the coast.
Considered to be one of the most scenic land journeys in Vietnam, the trip will take between three and four hours, depending on your selected method of travel.

How to get from Da Lat to Nha Trang
Overland travel between Da Lat and Nha Trang consists of three main options: minivan, car and bus.
Here are some helpful details:
Private or shared minivan
Travel time: three to four hours.
You can book a seat in a shared minivan or rent a private minivan for a small group.
Prices start at $9 per seat with a shared minivan, but you will share the space with strangers who have their own pickup and drop-off points.
If you are traveling with others, a private minivan is a practical option, as you can share the costs while still staying together. Prices for the van hire start around $85.
In all cases, your minivan will have air conditioning, which you’ll quickly learn is a must as you descend in elevation. Some operators also offer WiFi and charging stations. Most provide a generous luggage allowance of 15-20 kg (33-44 lbs).
Each company is different, so check the details before booking.
Some shared minivans offer the option of being picked up and dropped off at the hotel of your choice. This will save you the trouble of hailing a taxi in either city.
Private car
Travel time: three to four hours.
If you’re traveling alone or in a small party, hiring a private car will grant you plenty of freedom while still paying a similar price to a minivan. Car prices start around $56.

Bus
Travel time: three to four hours.
The most economical option by far is to travel from Da Lat to Nha Trang by bus. Tickets start at $9.
Buses in Vietnam are very modern and comfortable, with AC and possibly even WiFi, snacks and blankets. Additionally, the chairs recline to an almost flat position, so you can sleep if you want to.
The downside is that you are on the operator’s timetable and must navigate to and from the bus stations.
When is the best time of year to visit Nha Trang?
The best time of year to visit Nha Trang is during the dry season, from January through August.
The warm temperatures (25-30°C/77-86°F) and clear skies mean great days for lounging on the beach or trying your hand at water sports.
If you wind up visiting during the wet season (October through December), it will still be warm, but expect plenty of precipitation during your stay. On the upside, you’ll get to see the landscape at its greenest and the waterfalls at their fullest.
