About the ride from Dubrovnik to Korcula

Dubrovnik is a beautiful place to visit. After a few days of exploring cobblestone streets, visiting Game of Thrones filming locations, and learning about the town’s turbulent history, you’ll definitely be craving some ‘vitamin sea’. The Pearl of the Adriatic has a few small beaches, but if you’re looking for your piece of seaside paradise, the Croatian islands are the place for you. There’s no better place to start exploring these small pieces of heaven than the island of Korcula.

When traveling the 100 km (62 miles) distance between Dubrovnik and Korcula, you have one option. The high speed ferry will take you on a 2-hour journey through the waves of the Adriatic Sea and along the rugged Croatian coastline. You’ll be starting your trip at the Dubrovnik Pier, and the ferry operator will drop you off right at the heart of the island, the small town of Korcula.

From the Western Pier, you’ll be within the walking distance from the charming old town, several restaurants and bars. If you booked your accommodation here, you won’t need transportation. However, in case you booked it somewhere else on the island, you can continue your trip via public buses, or a taxi.

 

What to see when traveling from Dubrovnik to Korcula

As soon as you set foot on the ferry, have your eyes and your camera ready. The ferry will take you on a 2-hour journey along the Croatian coastline. Traveling between Dubrovnik and Korcula is a sight for sore eyes. The views of the sea, the waves, and the green coastline will prepare you for a relaxing stay on the island.

At the start of your ride, you’ll be traveling between the coastline and the Šipan island, with occasional views of lovely small towns on your way. As your journey continues, you’ll move closer to the Mljet island.  The ferry will move close to the island to make a few stops. As the ferry glides along the coast of Mljet, enjoy the stunning views of untouched nature. The entire northwest part of the island is a national park.

Further on, you’ll move away from Mljet and continue your journey towards the Peljesac peninsula and Korcula island.

Once you arrive at your end destination, you’ll be spoiled with the choice of activities you can do there. Korcula is a great destination for active travelers. Start your trip off with swimming and relaxing on some of the island’s beautiful beaches, snorkeling, and absorbing the sunshine.

When you get bored of laying on the beach, go on to explore the many hiking and cycling trails the island has to offer. Korcula is also Croatia’s most popular windsurfing and sailing spot. In case you haven’t tried these sports, there are many beginner courses available.

For those who need more adrenalin during their stay, there are many other tours available. From sea kayaking, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, to mountain biking and paragliding. However, Korcula isn’t only a place for adventurous and fearless travelers. For a relaxing experience of the island, you can take the countryside, birdwatching tours, enrol in a yoga course, or pay a visit to some of the island’s vineyards.

From Korcula town, you can take ferries to other nearby islands such as Lastovo, Badija, or Mljet, and the town of Orebic on the Peljesac peninsula. No matter where you decide to go and what you choose to do, you’re in for a great time.

 

 

How to get from Dubrovnik to Korcula?

Taking a ferry 

The ferry that will take you from Dubrovnik to Korcula is well-equipped with comfortable seating, AC cabins, and toilets on board. The ferry only has indoor seating, so in case you want to enjoy some beautiful views, you should hurry to grab a window seat. The ferry also has a small bar on board, where you can get coffee, soft drinks, or snacks.

The ferry operates from 6 April to 25 October. The ferry cannot sail in bad weather conditions. In case of bad weather, all passengers will have the option to take the next available ferry or receive a full refund of their tickets.

This ferry is for passengers only. You won’t be able to transport your car on this ferry.
