The journey takes around eight and a half to nine hours, and passengers must transfer from a ferry to a bus and back to a ferry. The first leg of the journey involves a ferry ride from Koh Phi Phi to Krabi. A two-and-a-half-hour bus or minivan journey then takes you to Surat Thani, where travelers board another ferry to Koh Phangan.
All three departures are in the morning at around 09:00 am. The ferries have indoor and outdoor seating while the buses and minivans have air conditioning. Most ferries have a concession stand on board from where passengers can purchase food and drinks.
